The NYPT experience

Recollections & insight to the Thursday night boyz & girl

Crisis time

Lap resigned from the team last Thursday. Can you all try & talk him into staying? Our already difficult season is unlikely to get any better if Lap's gone & Weasler's on a 3 week world tour.

Do what you can. Thanx. I don't know what to say cuz he seems adamant.

Fun time?

Take a few moments out from the drudgery of the day and come up with a caption for our team-mate. The best one wins a prize. As yet to be determined.

Captain Sparky & the Drunken stupids

What a name. It turns out that one of them was called Landrew, another unusual name which I pointed out to the owner was from a Start Trek episode. Spelled Landru, but we're splitting hairs here. Wow, he said & told me I was the 15th person in his life who was aware of that. Waddya know. Anyway, we won a rare toss & the evening looked promising until we started trying to make some balls. Alas...

The Bulldog is still trying to find his footing after his self-imposed exile in the wilderness. Playing a D who can run the occasional rack wasn't gonna help. He played pretty well but lost by 5 racks. Unfortunately, he's still heading towards......

Maharaji played an unbeaten C who started the season as a D (ROFLMAO at that one...). The chap remains unbeaten cuz Skipper couldn't make a moderately difficult 7 ball in the hill-hill rack. And that turned out to be huge cuz....

Lay'ya (captured on film just to the right, courtesy of the blog she has just started), won a tough match against a strong D+. She's been the team rock so far this season. Weasler shot great against another D+ but his W was not a shut-out & we lost on points.

I feel sorry for the Slippah. The only match he's had so far has been against Tony Robles, who isn't such a bad player. We can't seem to get our noses in front after the first two matches to make it mathematically sensible to play him.

We're 1-3, rapidly sinking towards the bottom of the ocean. Who's gonna step up? Someone please. Anyone. Beg. Grovel. etc.... Perhaps next week is the week of the Jessen.

Horsing around

Miserable night. John Leyman tried to start 10 mins early, which was just fine & dandy for John Smith's team cuz they were all there while all we had were Jeff & I. Obviously they don't have real lives, just like me & Jeff. I stalled, perusing the decor in the gents bathrooms for a few mins before taking a leisurely stroll to the bar, ordering a drink & returning to the arena, just as Liz appeared with Weasler close behind. The clever stalling tactics didn't really matter though cuz we got an ass kicking.

We stunk.

We lost 4-0, getting crushed. To make the evening even worse, I got halfway home only to realise that Bulldog hadn't given me my break stick back & I had to trudge back thru the freezing cold to get it.

What a p**ser.

In absentia

Unfortunately skipper had to make a sudden withdrawal from the evening's events due to pressing matters concerning high finance from across the pond. He did not witness the seemingly miserable turn of events (except for Layya who kicked a*s) and had to rely on eyewitness accounts of what went down.

Slipper speaks

I was "unprepared" against Tony lol. Haven't been playing much, and I have a huge mental block against him anyway. I lost 9-3, having varying degrees of opportunities in most games. Sigh.

Liz played real good, beating Caroline in quick fashion. She made some awesome outs. Wenzler lost to Robert Salazar; looked like he didn't have a great set either. Lappy played Beito I think. By that point I was so sick about my match that I had to leave.

Lap chips in

It was a horror show. I lost on the hill. Both Beito and I were bewildered by the table speed. There was a whole lot of missing going on.

Weasly waffles

If you must know. I ran the first two racks but scratched off the end rail into the side pocket on the second one. Then proceeded to run 7 balls solve the rack and miss an open shot a couple time. Overall not the result I hoped for. End score 5-7 boooo.
