A new season

** Sorry all but Blogger made me upgrade today so you may find you need to create a google email account to post any comments. **

Wow. 30 teams this season. Praise the Lord that we're in the 6:15 slot. Looking around there were plenty of new old faces in the room, which was kinda nice. Closer to home, we had a new old face ourselves, Mr Tischler was back. This was achieved thru the kindness of Matt, who joined Mr Donofrio on the skipper's wife's team for a season. It was really odd to see both of them not playing for us & it'll be an interesting clash when we meet their team on April 11th. But I digress.....

We got to play Gina's new team, which was filled with players with rather generous handicaps. The JPNEWT tour points leader as a C+? That's a good one. Anyway, we got to play in the "mosh pit" & the dodgey handicappers weren't there. We started our new season with our "new" player, matching the Dawg against Gina & Liz getting Brenda. 'Twas lovely to see Jeff back in action, even if he wasn't firing on all cylinders. Don't worry pal, "it's just like riding a bike mate". It'll come back to you, it just wasn't there tonight. Liz stomped on Brenda in half the time it took Mr T to lose his match and Weasler went up only to find he got to play Brenda again. She turned out to be the gift that kept on giving & Weasly started the season in fine fashion, with a W. In the final match we had a choice between Slipper & Skipper against a D+, which is no choice at all really with the handicaps, so BTR got to play. And win.

I've really gotta win a coin toss once in a while so I can increase Steve's chances of at least finding a decent matchup. I will call "heads" next time guys. Promise.

We did win though, which is the right way to start a new season. It seems that some of the 8:45 session people are less than happy with their slot. I heard that Gary Sofa-hottee got home at 1:00am and his team lost be one rack. Imagine how it would've gone if they'd needed a tie-breaker? Yup, 6:15 is the way to go!

Someone's back

It was a huge f'ing headache creating a space for him and he owes Matt a year's supply of Cuervo.

The talent of Leia AKA It's fork time

ahem, hem. hands stretching, knuckles cracking

There is a team from New York
Some whupass they wish to uncork
They can all play
Too bad that they're gay
Miss the nine you'll get stabbed with a fork

So be careful out there........

A new era

Yup, we've moved. The problem is though...
Figuring it would be a nuthouse on the 1st team night, I went to Broadway to grab an hour on a table only to find Liz & Mike there too. Great minds think alike, eh? Though I can't work out how Weasly came up with the idea.

After a split pit stop at a sandwich place / Macdonalds invloving BTR munching his chicken sandwich looking thru the window at Swell/Leia eating their healthier fare, we entered the new venue. Very nice indeed. Looks great, smells new & feels good. Some tables are in public pathways which will be a future irritant at some point but not the ones we were blessed with on this night.

Mr Donofrio showed up to the match to lend his support. Seemed just like old times. Slipper looked rather spiffy in his new:
and he seemed somehow taller, more regal perhaps.

Leia meanwhile was happy sharing the news that Mr Beepers had been through a much overdue spring cleaning (in Jan?) and was purring appreciatively since the event. She looked in pristine shape herself on the table beating up on the poor sod she was drawn against.

At the same time Button appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the venue change, playing a very polished match against his opponent.

Lap beat up on his guy too & that left us watching Weasler taking his time in the only loss of the evening. He was saying something about not playing last again but my mind went back to the "well if we're gonna play in the 8:00PM then those that wanted that time slot can play second" conversation so I pushed his whining to one side.

As I was putting my gear together before taking the winning sheet to John, I tried to put on my jacket. This was more difficult than usual cuz some funny f**kers had decided to but as many ACS envelopes as they could find in the sleeves & pockets (outside & inside) while wrapping elastic bands around the sleeves so they couldn't fall out. Lappy & Swell looked the guiltiest and will be dealt with in some fitting manner.

We came out on top in our division & will be playing the wild card next week in the playoffs. That'll be Steve, Matt, Liz & Rog in the lineup methinks. Cuz it's not funny f**ker night.
