Madness, they call it Madness

Getting a table to practice on at 16:30 was more difficult than usual seeing as every table against the walls was being set up for a private party later. "Give me one by the bathroom then Rolando. I've no idea what number cuz I never play on those tables". I imagined how 22 teams were gonna be playing on about 17 tables later

but chose not to worry myself, preferring to concentrate on why I kept missing the straight in shot I'd set up for myself.

At the player meeting, John Leyman cleared up the issue by explaining that 6 teams would not be playing at the usual time and would have to wait until tables became available. ETA 9:00 p.m. We were one of those teams. Liz/Lap/Rog huddled up & were coming up with a way to display our unhappiness when by good fortune it turned out that some of the teams "lucky" enough to playing at the usual time hadn't showed up yet & we got to start on time as a reward for our own promptness. Sweet.

Having been in a bit of a slump recently, we started off strong with Lap & Liz. Can't go too wrong there the skipper mused. While Liz was swilling down her Amstel, Lap was about to win on the hill when .. he .. missed .. a .. straight .. in .. shot .. he'll .. make .. 499 .. times .. out .. of .. 500. And the other guy won. And Liz was still drinking/playing. And Mike went up against Larry who was shooting lights out & then Liz lost & suddenly we were down 2-0, by 4 racks & Mike was having trouble in the 3rd match. Pretty grim. 'Twas a tough call but Button went up against their D+ and didn't have much more fun than the previous week.

Meanwhile Swell managed to beat Larry in a match consisting of some amazing rolls.

Kudos to Weasly though. He's the only one of us to have won at all the last two weeks & he's actually won both matches. The rest of us or 0-6. He's the man. He's a man? He's manly? Sometimes he's less girly than others? Or something like that.
